Staff Minister

Job Description

Reverend Celeste A. Frazier desires to hire a Staff Minister for East Bay Church of Religious Science (“EBCRS”) to manage and lead the Youth and Family Ministry (“YFM”). The responsibilities of this Staff Minister will include:

  • Developing short and long term goals for the YFM Department,
  • Coordinating the curriculum
  • Following the vision of EBCRS
  • Training and motivating the adult volunteers who are YFM facilitators
  • Meeting with the YFM facilitators regularly
  • Developing the volunteers to take ownership of the YFM
  • Growing the YFM at EBCRS
  • Meeting with the parents and partnering with the parents
  • Providing leadership training and participation for special YFM events
  • Organizing occasional special local trips for the youth
  • Planning social events for the teens
  • Preparing youth for CSL youth camps
  • Collaborating with the Music Director for Youth Sundays and other special programs where youth participation is requested
  • Creating a budget for the YFM
  • Adhering to EBCRS policies regarding medical forms, agreements for youth facilitators and safety procedures
  • Contributing to the development of the YFM on the EBCRS website
  • Regular reports to the Spiritual Leader

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Masters of Consciousness Studies desired
  • Three to five years of prior experience in leading youth ministry, including curriculum and event planning, speaking and supervising 
 other youth staff and volunteers
  • Possess a solid theology and philosophy of how youth ministry fits in the life of the church
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, oversee, and grow a ministry program
  • Demonstrated ability to be a mature and engaging presence in the lives of students and families
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and work graciously with volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills to large and small groups, including interpersonal and people skills, discretion, and ability to hold confidentiality
  • Desire to grow as a teacher and mentor
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to prioritize and implement programs
  • Proficient knowledge of software programs and web-based applications, which may include: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,   PowerPoint), Google Drive and Google Docs, and familiarity with using database programs
  • Willing and able to apply advanced features in the software, and learn new programs and applications as needed.

Executive Assistant to the Senior Minister

Job Description

Mission of the Position:

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with professional demeanor and presence, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills.  He/she must possess strong organizational skills.  This person must be able to multi-task, be flexible in their job routine, work as team member in a collaborative environment, and relate well to other church staff, congregants and visitors.

This is a part-time hourly position averaging 24 hours per week, which does not offer benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.

Supervision:

The Executive Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Senior Minister

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years as an Executive Assistant reporting to a Senior Manager, preferred
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Information gathering and information monitoring skills
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Good judgment and decision-making ability

Principle Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate and schedule all appointments for the Senior Minister
  • Type and send any letters dictated by the Senior Minister
  • Field all phone calls for the Senior Minister’s office, take messages for the Senior Minister and directing them to the appropriate parties when necessary
  • Prepare for meetings with Board of Trustees and Practitioner Core, presentations and special projects.
  • Serves as liaison with other staff and leaders to carry out executive functions and provide assistance with fundraising events and staff appreciation events
  • Order any items the Senior Pastor needs
  • Manage expense reports and check requests

Hours:

1 pm to 6 pm – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
12 pm to 2 pm – Friday
9 am to 10 am; 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm – Sunday
