Our Beloved East Bay Choir
A rich tradition of ministry through music
Through harmony, rhythm, and spirit, the East Bay Church of Religious Science Music Ministry brings joy to all. We are committed to the transformation of the entire planet by sharing soulful, heartfelt, spiritual music.
The East Bay Church of Religious Science music ministry was founded in 1981 as the vision of our Senior Minister, Reverend Dr. Elouise Oliver. Our 60-plus member music ministry includes one of the first mass choirs established within the United Centers for Spiritual Living Global Ministries.
Frequently featured in concerts and choral festivals, the Choir and combined groups have performed at the following: How Sweet the Sound Celebration in West Africa; Carnegie Hall in New York City; Hillside Chapel in Atlanta; Global Exchange Green Festival in San Francisco; Founder’s Church Annual International Choral Festival in Los Angeles; Annual International Forgiveness Day (four years); and the Bay Area Barack Obama United for Change Rally. Our first live CD was recorded before a sold-out audience at the 2007 Black Expo held in Oakland, CA. The Music Ministry celebrated their 30-Year Anniversary in June of 2011.
Minister of Music at East Bay Church of Religious Science, Tyrone Cosey, is also a highly sought vocalist and songwriter, and recently released his debut CD, The Only Power.

One of her greatest “testimonies of faith” occurred while traveling with the EBCRS Choir to Ghana, West Africa in August 2000. There she met and adopted her beautiful daughter, Adjoa.
Vanessa believes that music is not only entertaining, it is transforming, healing, and simply magical.
Serving others has been the cornerstone of Tyrone’s life. Vocalist, songwriter and arranger, Tyrone has served East Bay Church of Religious Science for more than 35 years as the founding director of the International Mass Choir and the East Bay Men Chorus. He also served Oakland and the surrounding Bay area communities for 8 years advocating for financial empowerment and economic justice for all.
Tyrone’s CD entitled The Only Power, woven from a fresh interpretation of rhythm & blues, jazz, Latin sounds and Gospel, is a joyful tapestry of inspirational music. His latest endeavor, a music-based podcast called “New Thought Soul Music Radio” featuring amazing local talent, is set to launch in early 2021.
